An electrical control room (or open type control Panel) for all control and electronic devices shall be provided. It shall be incorporated in the machinery house but isolated from the main machineries. The control room shall be air conditioned. A glass panel of 1.0 metre x 0.8 metre shall be provided on the wall facing the main machinery so that a view of the operation of the machineries is possible from inside the electric room. The entrance to the electric room shall be from the inside of the machinery house and the door shall be sliding or hinge type fitted with a glass panel of size not smaller than 0.5 metre x 0.8 metre. Transformers, inductors and other electro magnetic devices must not be installed on the roof of the electric control room. The temperature inside the control room shall be maintained at about 28 degrees Celsius during operation. The air-conditioner units shall be split type and shall be automatically switched on when the crane operation starts and automatically switched off when the crane operation ends. All air-conditioner units shall be pendant-controlled instead of wireless remote-controlled. A MCCB to insolate the air-conditioners for maintenance shall also be provided. A steel computer table for the computer terminal, a cushioned chair with height and backrest adjustment and a lockable steel filling cabinet complete with shelves, rack and files pockets shall be provided inside the electric control room. The electric control room shall have adequate space to house all control cubicles, electronic devices and the above furniture. All terminations of wire and cables shall be connected only at terminal block or directly to the electric equipment (See clause-3.4.4). All access to the terminal blocks shall be made from the front. There shall be sufficient space in front. There shall be adequate space in front access for maintenance purposes. Noise level in the electric room shall not exceed 85 dBA during crane operation. Noise levels from the reactors used in the drives shall be kept below 85 dBA measured at 1 meter from the reactor panel during operation. Transformers, reactors and other devices that produce heavy magnetic field shall be installed away from the room where computer equipment are installed.
