A number of annotated digestive enzyme genes were found in thesequencing results, which had been found in short-read RNA-seq datawith three digestive tissues (Ma et al., 2017). A total of 59 genes werefound, including carbohydrase genes, lipase genes and protease genes.Several genes were found that had more than five transcripts, whichmight be involved in their function. The tissue-specific expression ofeach gene was computed, which might reveal that the genes play animportant role in a given tissue. Carbohydrases were mainly con-centrated in the stomach and liver but not in the large intestine; lipaseswere found in the stomach, liver and large intestine; and proteases werefound in the liver, stomach, and tongue. Highly expressed genes werealso determined to observe the digestive function of the six tissues. Thehighly expressed digestive enzyme genes might play an important rolein the processes of carbohydrate, lipid and protein digestion in thecorresponding digestive tissues.
