Environmental monitoring instruments and equipment are important means to obtain corresponding data for environmental monitoring. UV spectrophotometry has been widely used in the field of environmental monitoring, which provides some help for the sustainable development strategy of our country. In the long-term use and research process, its performance in various aspects has been constantly improved and innovated, so it will be promoted in the future development. In this paper, alkaline potassium persulfate was used to digest the total nitrogen before and after sewage interception by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. The results showed that the rate of total nitrogen exceeding the standard before sewage interception was 100%, the rate of total nitrogen passing the standard after sewage interception was 57%, and the effect of sewage interception engineering treatment was obvious. The ammonia nitrogen in the effluent of the sewage treatment plant is 2.56mg/l by Nessler reagent spectrophotometry, and the total phosphorus in the effluent of the sewage treatment plant is 0.15mg/l by ammonium molybdate spectrophotometry, all of which conform to the first class a standard of the discharge standard of pollutants for urban sewage treatment plant (GB 18918-2002). The determination of hexavalent chromium in tap water by diphenylcarbazide spectrophotometry is 0.003mg/l; the determination of nitrate nitrogen in tap water by thymol spectrophotometry is 1.49mg/l, all in line with the limit concentration in Table 1 of the hygienic standard for drinking water (GB 5749-2006).<br>
