Once the bottom-level performance and cost attributes had been calculated, the value was multiplied by the preference weighing of the program-level manager at the node in the next level of the portfolio hierarchy. This process was repeated for each level of the portfolio hierarchy until all branches were aggregated to the portfolio-designer. The portfolio-level preference weightings were then applied to find the ultimate utility and costs of the portfolio. Table VI provides information on the approach and result for utility evaluation at each level of the capability tree.
