Religion is closely connected with the profession of a faith. According to Doyle, “By religious, we mean practices carried out by those who profess a faith. By practices, I am thinking of prayer, Bible reading, the receiving of sacraments, the discipline of times of devotions, and so forth.” Religion usually expresses spirituality, but spirituality does not necessarily relate to religion. Some of the terminology Doyle uses in his definition is language more limited to the Judeo Christian tradition.
