Simulation results were compared to both polarization curves and local current density measurements on a full size industrial design. The goodness of fit we obtained despite the complexity of the design and the current distribution it generates, proves the soundness of the approach. A detailed interpretation of simulation results was given as well.Shortcomings were identified, especially regarding the membrane transport model. Further modeling work is already under way to tackle this issue. Further work will also focus on transient behavior and the ability to model the influence of liquid water droplet movements in gas channels on performance.
