3.5.5. Weld Integrity - Visual: Inspection shall be performed in accordance with method described in 4.5.5. Unless otherwise specified, the acceptance criteria of AWS D17.1 Class A with the following exceptions shall apply. Specific criteria may be defined on a case-by-case basis.3.5.5.1. Tack welds shall be completely consumed. 3.5.5.2. There shall be no overlap. 3.5.5.3. Color: The weld bead and the adjacent parent metal shall have a color similar to that of the un-welded parent metal. (Note: Areas that exhibit loose spatter shall be mechanically cleaned to remove loose particles.) 3.5.5.4. Penetration and Fusion: 3.5.5.4.1. The face side of welds shall have full fusion (i.e., no missed seams). 3.5.5.4.2. The root side of full penetration welds, when visually accessible, shall exhibit full fusion with no missed seams.3.5.5.5. Cracks: Cracks in base metal, heat-affected zones and weld fusion zones are not acceptable.3.5.5.6. Surface Porosity: Individual size shall not exceed 0.010 inch. Spacing shall not be less than 8 times the size of the larger imperfection. Accumulated length shall not exceed 0.040 inch for each 3 inches of weld.
