Boredom is the sensation that we women who love too much so often experience when we find ourselves with ”nice” men: no bells peal, no rockets explode, no stars fall from heaven. In the absence of excitement we feel antsy, irritable, and awkward, a generally uncomfortable state that is covered by the label boredom. Our skills at relating are honed for challenge, not for simply enjoying a man’s company. There is more discomfort in the presence of steady, dependable, cheerful, stable fellows than there ever is with men who are unresponsive, emotionally distant, unavailable, or uninterested.
