Where natural law is absolute, rights are not. There is no absolute rightsincetherearelimitsplacedontheacquisitionandaccumulationof property. One cannot accumulate so much land, animals, and agricultural produce that some of it eventually spoils because it is well beyond what an individual or family can consume and enjoy. The basic satisfaction of human need andmaterial sustenance is the central moral imperative of this limitation. After a certain point in time, further accumulation beyond need can only result in waste, useless production, and the destruction of nature.
