Although 70.8% of the earth is covered by water, its fresh water resources are extremely limited. Of the total water resources, 97.5% is salt water, which is not drinkable. Of the remaining 2.5% of fresh water, 87% is the polar ice sheet, alpine glaciers and ice and snow in permafrost regions that are difficult for human beings to use. What human beings can really use is a part of rivers, lakes and groundwater, accounting for only 0.26% of the total water volume of the earth, and the distribution is uneven.<br>
