Effective sway damping through electronic controls of the trolley shall be provided. The electronic controls shall be closed loop feedback type. There shall be accurate means of detections of the sway positions of the spreader in relation to the trolley and corresponding movement of the trolley to damp the sway of the spreader. Machine manufacturer shall ensure that the detection devices will be able to give accurate feedback of the spreader sway positions despite rocking and skewing of the spreader during trolley motion and the different relative positions of the spreader due to trim, list and skew actions.The anti-sway system shall be capable of damping the sway of the spreader, with rated load at a spreader height of 10 meters above ground, bringing it to a stop within + 50 mm displacement in less than five seconds after the trolley is brought to a halt from full speed. The anti-sway shall function automatically in the automated crane operation mode.The system shall also be capable of damping spreader sway during manual operation mode when the trolley motion is stopped. The system shall remember the position where the trolley is stopped and shall repositioned the trolley to its original position after the sway is damped. Tests for above requirement shall be conducted during acceptance testing and commissioning of the cranes.
