10.2 Labels and markings adjacent to cylindersA permanent, durable and legible label containing the information as shown in Figure 10.2.(a) Close appliance valves before opening cylinder valve(s).(b) At cylinder changeover, check connections at the appliances,regulators, hoses and cylinders for leaks using soapy water or itsequivalent. CAUTION: The ammonia present in some soaps and detergents canreact with brass fittings and cause such fittings to crack after a shortperiod of time. Therefore, caution should be exercised when using soap solutions on brass fittings and all connections should be rinsed thoroughly with fresh water as soon as possible after the application of the soap solution.(c) Never use a match or flame when checking for leaks.(d) Ensure cylinder valves are closed when connecting ordisconnecting electrical connections.(e) Close valve(s) and fit sealing plug to all spare cylinders notconnected, whether full or empty.(f) In the event of fire, immediately close cylinder valve(s) if safe to doso.(g) Close cylinder valve(s) when appliances are not in use and whiletravelling or refuelling (caravans only).(h) Close cylinder valve(s) when appliances are not in use and whilerefuelling (boats only).Figure 10.2 — Label adjacent to cylinders10.3 Labels and markings near appliance10.3.1 GeneralA single permanent, durable and legible label shall be located in a prominent position within the area containing the gas appliance. The label shall be protected from damage and containing the information shown in Figure 10.3.1.Refer to Section 6 for specific appliance marking and label requirements.
