Timing for the Waukesha electronic ignition system on the AT25 is supplied via an aluminum disc with magnets imbedded in it. This wheel, located under the end plate of the engine, is driven off of the camshaft and displaces the magneto drive at the rear of the crankcase. The AT27 uses two Hall effect pick-ups to provide for very accurate ignition timing. One operating off the aluminum timing disk on the camshaft for indexing and one additional Hall effect pick-up for the cylinder timing magnets in the flywheel.
