Appendix E (normative) Testing gas installationsE.1 GeneralE.1.1 New installationsThe following tests shall be carried out on all new installations:(a) A pipework test, described in Clause E.2, on the newly installed pipework.(b) An installation test, described in Clause E.3, including all gas appliances.E.1.2 Additions and alterations to installationsThe following tests shall be carried out on all additions and alterations to existing installations:(a) A pipework test, described in Clause E.2, on the newly installed or altered pipework before being connected to the existing pipework.(b) An installation test, described in Clause E.3, including all newly installed or repositioned gas appliances and pipework.E.2 Pipework testE.2.1 MethodThe procedure shall be as follows:(a) Ensure the installation is disconnected from the regulator.(b) Ensure all gas appliances are disconnected or turned off at the appliance isolation valve(s).(c) Ensure all open ends are plugged or capped.(d) Connect the test instrument (e.g. manometer).(e) Pressurize the piping to 14 kPa.(f) Isolate the pressure source and allow a period (e.g. 2 min) for the temperature of the testing medium within the piping to stabilize.(g) Measure any loss of pressure during a test period of 5 min.E.2.2 Test resultThe pipework shall be considered sound if there is no detectable loss of pressure during the test period
