In addition to parent training, parent supports groups are important to positive parent-child outcomes (Stahmer & Gist, 2001). The variety of online technologies can offer new ways to bring together families living with individuals diagnosed with autism. Furthermore, new technologies also provide opportunities for individuals with autism living in rural areas to meet other individuals with autism living in other localities around the world. Technology could not only provide new opportunities for informational support, but it could provide emotional support for parents and individuals with autism. Not only can the expansion of the family training services and supports using new technologies be used for families of children with autism, but this expansion of family support and services could be used to help support families of children with other disabilities, too.
