Taking the deep shale gas reservoir of Longmaxi formation in Yongchuan area as an example, the calculation method of organic matter content of logging data under different well types is discussed. The results show that in vertical wells (coring wells), due to abundant logging data, various methods can be used to calculate the organic matter content. By analyzing the error between the calculation results and the core data, it is determined that multivariate fitting method and density method are the best calculation models. Due to the limitation of data acquisition in horizontal wells, the method of combining gamma ray energy spectrum superposition area difference method with volume density method is proposed. Considering the spatial position of trajectory, the problem of calculating organic matter content in horizontal wells is effectively solved.
