2.2. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). RFID systemsare comprised of three main components such as the tagor transponder, the reader or transceiver that reads andwrites data to a transponder, and the computer containingdatabase and information management software. RFID tagscan be active, passive, or semipassive. Passive and semipassiveRFIDs send their data by reflection or modulation of the electromagnetic field that was emitted by the reader. The typicalreading range is between 10 cm and 3 m [1, 8].
