This is another example without a single extraneous ornament ,and only a modified horse hoof ,designed to give life to the lower part of the design .Here the top ties furnish the individuality required of the piece .Not a single curving line is used except in the modeling of the feet ,yet by careful proportioning an effect of perfect lightness is achieved .As so often ,however ,it is a detail-here he repeated pairs of short ,upright braces between the ties ,of broken line ,and the table top ,all made delicately convex in cross section-that prevents the design from becoming mechanical .
