In order to reduce the application amount of chemical fertilizer in the process of winter wheat planting in the middle of Gansu Province, reduce soil environmental pollution and improve the utilization efficiency of chemical fertilizer, the effects of organic fertilizer instead of part of chemical fertilizer on the nitrogen utilization efficiency and yield of winter wheat intercropping pea in the middle of Gansu Province were studied by using the method of two factor random block design and field experiment. The results showed that the combined application of organic fertilizer could significantly improve the nitrogen uptake, nitrogen use efficiency and yield of winter wheat and pea. Under the condition of combined application of organic fertilizer, the nitrogen use efficiency of compound population in the treatment of 30% reduction of constant conventional chemical fertilizer and 15% reduction of constant conventional chemical fertilizer increased by 12.99% and 4.65% respectively. Under the same level of conventional chemical fertilizer, the economic yield and biological yield of winter wheat and pea treated with organic fertilizer were greater than those without organic fertilizer. The economic yield and biological yield of pea and winter wheat treated with conventional fertilizer and combined application of organic fertilizer were the highest, which was significantly higher than that of conventional fertilizer by 5.22% and 6.76%, higher than that of conventional fertilizer by 15% and combined application of organic fertilizer by 5.97% and 6.64%; The economic yield and biological yield of pea treated with conventional fertilizer were less than that of conventional chemical fertilizer by 15%, and the treatment with organic fertilizer showed that in the intercropping system, the reduction of conventional chemical fertilizer by 15% and the application of organic fertilizer were beneficial to improve the yield of pea compared with the application of conventional chemical fertilizer alone.<br>Key words: winter wheat; Peas; Organic fertilizer; Nitrogen use efficiency; yield
