Wheel Curvature Compensation is a generalisation of the algorithm given in EN15610:2009 section 7.3.Normally, the data displayed is based on the corrugation profile of the rail as measured. Optionally, the data displayed can be based on the displacement profile of the axis centreline of a simulated wheel which is ‘run’ along the measured profile. This simulation (which is used primarily for noise prediction purposes) is called Wheel Curvature Compensation. The simulation assumes perfectly rigid rail and wheel, so that the wheel profile runs along successive peaks of the measurement profile.
