Disc brakes shall be provided on every motor for stopping the gantry motion. Manual release for the brakes shall be provided to allow towing of the crane when there is no electricity to energies the brakes. All gantry wheel shall be double flanged. Robust removable covers to prevent foreign objects from damaging the wheels & the structures shall be provided. The gantry mechanism shall be most advanced and robust consist with upper, lower and middle equalizer which connected with pin shafts. Rail scrappers of robust construction shall be provided and it shall sweep the debris towards the centre of the crane. Design details shall be provided.Hydraulic buffers complete with bellow cover and safety chains shall be provided at the four corners of the crane. The buffers shall be capable of absorbing and dissipating the full energy of the crane moving at maximum gantry speed and colliding with the stationery steel wharf bumpers the are not installed with any buffers. Guards to prevent the buffers from being hit by passing vehicles shall be provided. Two sets of rail brakes with the capability of holding the crane under a wind speed of 35 m/s shall be provided. The rail brakes shall be hydraulically operated. They shall be activated by one push button and deactivated by another inside the operator’s cabin. Indication lamps to show activation and deactivation of the rail clamps shall also be provided in the operators cabin. The rail clamps shall also be automatically activated when the main supply to the crane control system is switched-off or when wind speed of greater than 20 m/s is detected by the crane. The speed setting should be adjustable. The design of the rail clamp shall be equivalent to `Hillmar type RRB 50’. Hand pumps for manually releasing the rail clamps shall be provided and installed on every hydraulic unit, in case of failure of the rail clamp hydraulic cylinders, that shall be easily removed and replaced without having to dismantle the complete rail clamp assemblies. Details of the rail clamps and the procedure of replacing the hydraulic cylinders shall be provided. The crane shall be equipped with manually operated storm anchors that are capable of holding the crane under a wind pressure of 304 kgf/m2. The design of the 4 storm anchors shall suit the 4 anchor sockets and that the storm anchors shall not be dislodged from the socket during a cyclone.
