The SE method is a conventional and simple method to prepare single crystal through concentrating the precursor solution with solvent evaporation. This method adapted similar setup for STL method. Xiong et al. used DMF solvent to dissolve PbCl2 and benzylammonium (benzylammoniu -m = BA) chloride in a concentrated HCl aqueous mixture solution. Then, (BA)2PbCl4 crystals were obtained through slow evaporation of DMF solution at 363 K. The use of mixed solvents not only increase the solubility of the reagents, but also induce the fast evaporation of low-boiling solvents. The method is versatile for materials with low boiling point solvents. The key of SE technique is set the proper temperature of the crystal growth, which has greatly affected on the growth rate and quality of the crystal. Although SE method is simple and efficient to grow single crystals, however, it is hard to be accurately controlled to yield large size crystals.
