Where paint coatings are proposed for the protection of surfaces ofequipment exposed to corrosive conditions, such as plant items exposed tobrine or sea water, or immersion in liquids or wet gases, the coatings shall beformulated to be suitably corrosion resistant and shall be high voltage sparktested at works and at Site prior to commissioning. The test procedure shallbe based on the use of a high voltage direct current. The voltage used shallbe 75% of the breakdown voltage of the coating. This breakdown voltageshall first be separately determined using test plates coated with the specifiedcoating formulation and thickness.
