Million Pound tells the story of a poor clerk, Henry Adams, an American boy, in London. Two wealthy brothers in London have bet on lending Henry an unseerable million-dollar bill to see how he ends up in a month. When the month-long deadline came, Henry not only did not starve to death or be arrested, but became rich, and won the hearts of a beautiful lady.
The storyline of the novel and its brief, characters and language style give a sense of humor. In fact, it attacks the cult of money in contemporary Anglo-American society, and the bad culture of not spending money.
A sought-after life is not indefinite. In a month's time, Henry will return the virtual check, return to a quiet life, and perhaps even return to his former poverty. Inevitability:
