The legs have some of the largest muscles in the body, and you want these muscles to be strong and have endurance for labor. Remaining active in birth is essential and having legs that can hold you in different positions such as squatting, kneeling, or staggered standing will make for an overall easier labor. Often women view birth as something done lying down, when really it should be seen as a dynamic process. It is called labor for a reason. By building strength and muscular endurance in your legs during pregnancy, you will be prepared for the physical demands of birth, you will feel better in your pregnancy, and you will recover more quickly postpartum.
