By eliminating the surfactant, different silica phasesare obtained. These materials can be easily synthesizedby sol-gel methods in acidic or basic conditions con-taining the silica precursor and the surfactant micelles asthe template. The most common and well-knownordered mesoporous frameworks are the 2D hexagonalplanar MCM-41and SBA-15 structures (symmetrygroup p6mm) with around 2 and 10 nm pores, respec-tively, and the 3D-cubic MCM-48 (symmetry groupla3d) with the pore size of approximately 3nm[9].
