Product design students completed four formative assessments and two summative assessments about understanding andcarrying out the design cycle. While in OTL, students completed research on mask designs, formulated their own ideas for designswhich improve upon existing products using ACCESS FM questions, drew multiple design sketches, practiced evaluating thedesigns of others and themselves, and created prototypes by hand from paper in order to show a 3D visualization of their ideas.After returning to school students inquired into the needs of the 3-7 year old children in the playroom, developed ideas of productsto meet their needs, drew design sketches, presented design ideas, used XPS foam to create their children’s product according totheir design sketches, tested their product after its creation, and finally evaluated its level of success in meeting the needs of the3-7 year old children they initially inquired into.Peter Blumenschein shows strength in demonstrating excellent technical skills when making the solution and can improve bypracticing research skills.
