The following figure shows a bolt group connection consisting of four bolts. When the bolt is subjected to transverse load, the axis of each bolt is perpendicular to the line of action of the bolt subjected to transverse load and passes through the center of symmetry of the bolt set. There should be a certain gap between the bolt rod and the hole wall of the connected part when the ordinary bolt is used (see FIG. A). The transverse load of each bolt is offset by the friction between the joint surfaces after the bolt is pretightened. When joined by reaming bolt (FIG. B), the lateral load of each bolt is offset by the compression and shearing of the bolt rod. In spite of the two different modes of force transmission, the working load of each bolt is equal under the total transverse load F. Therefore, the transverse working shear force of each bolt for reaming hole bolt connection and common bolt connection is (5-23).Where, Fz is the total transverse load and z is the number of bolt connections.When joining with plain bolts, the transverse load on the bolts shall be equal to or greater than the maximum friction force between the joint surfaces after the pre-tightening of the joint.
