Just like its limit-pushing forerunner, the P3X has been developed through huge amounts of research and testing using professional and amateur racers, studying their techniques in training and racing at different lengths and speeds. This, combined with feedback and data from the P5X, has led to a bike that Cervélo claims is stiffer in key areas (8 percent stiffer at head tube and 15 percent at bottom bracket) for improved acceleration and climbing, yet also lighter by 16 percent (frame only) . This has been achieved through a progression in lay-up techniques, shape and overall materials used. Cervélo says that on top of all these statistical improvements, one other key aim with this bike was to retain a fast, comfortable ride character.
