Jazz combines many genres of music to create a new and unique form of American music. Jazz features improvisation, which grants musicians chances to play a ready-made rhythm in different ways. Jazz originated in New Orleans in the late 1800s but it didn’t gain popularity until the 1900s and then quickly swept the whole America in the 1920s. Jazz has been evolving over time, which has led to the birth of many new genres of music as well as having an influence on other music forms.
