Impulse Test Performance - Hose shall be capable of withstanding 1,000,000 impulse cycles without leakage when subjected to the impulse test procedure in paragraph 4.12.Test Procedure – Hose assemblies shall be installed per SAE J343 on an impulse test machine. Both ends of the hose assembly shall be connected to a rigid support. 1E0493 oil or equivalent shall be used to produce the dynamic impulses, and shall be maintained at 121 ±3ºC measured at the manifold. Each impulse cycle shall consist of a pressure rise from 0-0.340 MPa to the recommended working pressure with a square wave pattern and cycle rate as described in SAE J343. There shall be two equally spaced cool downs where the hose and oil are allowed to return to a temperature between 25ºC to 40ºC. All external traces of oil shall be removed from the hose assemblies through use of a suitable solvent. Impulsing is then resumed during which the oil temperature shall not exceed 40ºC. No evidence of leakage is permitted after the completion of 500 cycles.
