No reduction in the anticoagulant activity of scaffolds was observed after 7 days and 14 days of immersion. The thrombin and fibrinogen absorbed on scaffolds and subsequent denaturation could stimulate the activation and aggregation of platelets. After conformational changes in fibrinogen, the exposed FGγchain could bind to integrin receptors on the platelet membrane to induce clotting[46]. Heparin in the modified coating could inhibit thrombin function and FGγadhesion to reduce platelet adhesion and activation on scaffolds.
