1. IntroductionCurrent demands in the automotive industry focus on improving the engine efficiency and reduce energy consumption.Those goals lead to design combustion engines with higher pressure thermal cycles and the use of “stop/start” and hybrid systems [1]. Therefore, the working conditions of bearings in the engines become harder with higher load and friction, which reduces the life time of the component. New alloys or composites with higher strength, fatigue and wear resistance, and lubricant wettability areneeded.
