2.2 Working principleThe garlic seed fell with a random manner and reached stable state after falling into the seed placed funnel. If scaly bud is upward, it would not be detected by infrared detector, then the telescopic cylinder and rotational cylinder are out of work, the MCU controls seed placed funnel to open, the garlic seed falls into inserted planting device directly. In this process the infrared detector would not detect any signal. Conversely, if the scaly bud is downward, the scaly bud would extend from limited notch of funnel after the seed falling into seed placed funnel, and be detected by infrared sensor, then the MCU would control the piston rod of telescopic cylinder takes the rotational hopper move to below seed placed funnel horizontally which driven by the solenoid directional control valve, the seed falls into rotational hopper, and the rotational cylinder takes garlic seed rotate 180°, so that the garlic seed would be adjusted as situation of scaly bud is upward.2.3 Characteristics analyze of garlic seedsThe structure parameters of seed placed funnel has a great relationship with overall dimensions of garlic seeds. The complete and well-stacked Lanling garlic seeds and Jinxiang garlic seeds were chosen as research object, as shown in Fig. 2. The dimension distribution of garlic seeds are counted and measured[28-30], as shown in Fig. 3.
