At the sintering temperature, the BaTiO3 should only be cubic phase. The typical crystal growth activities of specific crystal planes (001) and (110) planes of cubic BaTiO3 were established via first principles. Slab models consisting of nine layers terminated by TiO2, BaO, or by Ba–Ti–O, O–O on both sides of a slab were constructed, and they were optimized using the DFT calculation approach (Fig. 1).
