The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that processing of raw yttria powder consisting of irregular agglomerated particks of broad size distribution so as to produce monosized. monodispersed, spherical particles results in improved sintering behavior. No attempt was made to optimize the processing parameters or sintering schedules to produce fully dense microstructures. However, attempts were made to understand the densification behavior of the monodispersed powder at various timekemperature conditions.
