In the mid-term, it is imperative to capitalize on the burgeoning opportunities to fully integrate SUAS into various manned and unmanned systems. The requirement for SUAS that can operate seamlessly with current and future ground systems in tethered and untethered configurations is rapidly becoming an important need for the Army in the execution of the MDO concept. The systems developed and procured in the near-term in accordance with this strategy, along with the developmental work from Combat CapabilitiesDevelopment Command (CCDC) labs, will pave the way for these future capabilities that are working their way into draft requirements documents at this time. Development and procurement efforts in this area will provide Army units with enhanced R&S, strike,communication, target detection, target designation, autonomy enabling and other advanced future capabilities to position the Army one step closer to reaching its modernization objectives
