Authenticity: The source text falls into the category of informative text, aiming<br>to convey specific information to the target receivers. In the original, the author<br>elaborates four sets of problems with potential for worldwide harm. He quotes a lot of<br>real historical events, with a view to inspiring people to learn from the lessons of the<br>past and to solve future crisis, just as Example 4 displays. History is a kind of science<br>in which any slightest ambiguity and confusion cannot be allowed; otherwise, its<br>original meaning would be distorted (Chen Yugui, 1994:104). Therefore, in the process<br>of translation, the translator should faithfully convey the original meaning and<br>accurately translate real historical events so that the intended readers can better<br>understand the content of the source text.
