Further research found when broilers were reared under G and B monochromatic light combinations or G and B mixed lighting systems, their BW and meat quality were better than those in W (incandescent light; Rozenboim et al., 2004; Karakaya et al., 2009). However, Tamimie (1967) suggested that W improved the growth-depressive performance observed under pink light. Contradictory findings are probably due to variability in the light sources. Our previous study suggested that G promotes the growth and development of broilers during the early stage [posthatching day (P) 0 to P26] and that B enhances growth during the later stage (P27 to P49), but whether the combinations of B and G monochromatic light result in better growth and productive performance of broilers needs to be confirmed. Moreover, published information on the effect of combinations of monochromatic light on the growth and development of broilers is very limited. Therefore, this study was designed to determine whether a combination of monochromatic lights could improve the productive performance of broilers.
