I found this rather a disappointment compared with Robert Shaw's earlier recordings of the Mass, his one in "Living Stereo" from 1961 and the wonderful interpretation from 1947 which was the second one in the world following the first, that of Albert Coates in London, 1929. This Telarc production just seemed to lack Shaw's more youthful vigour and drive from previous years and simply did nothing to improve upon his past offerings. Little more to add except the ridiculous lack of tracking bands on the discs themselves. It is a pity that his 1947 RCA Victor recording could not be coupled with that of his 1946 Magnificat and released on CD.
