The following listed maneuvers will be subjectively evaluated by individuals designated by the VLE platform team to assess the performance level of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The foundation turn maneuver is defined as taking the vehicle to maximum lateral acceleration in a turn within one second. The maneuvers will be performed with traction control and ESC enabled. Both left and right hand turns must be performed. Use of a roll cage is mandatory due to high vehicle speed. Use of outriggers is mandatory for vehicles with high center of gravity. Maneuvers are to be performed on the Vehicle Dynamics Test Area at the Milford Proving Ground (or comparable facility) on dry asphalt per GM test procedure GMW15455. Evaluator(s) will subjectively evaluate the handling performance of the vehicle and will record vehicle dynamic data including vehicle side slip angle in order to document vehicle performance. Brake pedal inputs will be made after reaching maximum lateral acceleration. Evaluator(s) will work with supplier(s) to ensure at least a GMUTS rating of 8 performing each maneuver.
