Sleep is a physiological process of self balance regulation, which has been incorporated into the dual process model of sleep regulation, namely, sleep homeostasis regulation and circadian rhythm regulation. If sleep homeostasis regulation and circadian rhythm regulation dysfunction, or awake system function is too strong, may lead to insomnia. The 3P model suggested that the individual's predisposition and inborn tendency would lead to acute insomnia when encountering inducing factors. Negative thoughts and non adaptive coping behaviors will produce conditioned arousal, which will be acquired and maintained until chronic insomnia after repeated. At present, there is a lack of effective treatment for chronic insomnia. Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, Cbt-i) is a kind of non drug therapy which has no side effects, less recurrence times and better long-term effect than sleep drugs. Cbt-i includes progressive relaxation, biofeedback, cognitive method, stimulus control, time therapy and sleep restriction therapy. However, it is not fully utilized in clinical practice. It is suggested that cbt-i be used as the first line of chronic insomnia Treatment.<br>
